A great day was had by Team PM Tuning at Hoghton Tower sprint yesterday organised by Blackline Sprinting LTD in glorious sunshine for a change and a great crowd to support the proceedings.

Joe Elliot set the fastest practice times in both the modern 400 and the 250 classes using the X2 344cc PM twin sprinter in the 400 class and 183cc Pro Sprint single in the 250 class.

The format was 2 practice runs in the... morning for each class with 3 timed runs in the afternoon to count, best of the fastest runs to count for position. (See official timing sheets images for each timed lap.) The track layout was very unfamiliar to us with a steep 1/8 mile single track drag up hill with an up hill start with the run terminating around 100 meters before the left had paddock entrance turn.

Launching both scooters was a real handful the grip was very limited due to dusty tires from the unmade paddock surface and the burn out area was limited to a burn out board situated away from the start line. First few attempts saw Joe light up the rear tyre with some fantastic sideways sliding action before getting things straightened up and nailed up the hill to the disbelief of the spectating crowd. After a few adjustments to both machines Joe got to grips with what was required and started to smash the previous set track record times recorded by Mark Berry aboard on his twin 250 Yamaha sprint kneeler.

Both scooters shocked a lot of spectators and competitors alike you should have heard the comments... Quite funny really, the commentator was quite condescending, he would not acknowledge the fact the Joe was trashing the track record and leading all day in both classes.

Best superbike times were around 7.73 so the scooters certainly impressed with there performance, we had lots of positive comments in the paddocks by fellow competitors admiring our engineering efforts and achievements so all in all a great day out with a new track record in the 400 class from 8.10 to 7.80 and 1st place... Broke the track record in the 250 class with the single 183 sprinter 8.10 to 8.00 2nd place. Also Took trophy for best presented and best 1st time effort... Nice one Joe!

A special thanks to the organisers for putting on a cracking meeting and for the all who turned out to support us not forgetting the Hoghton Towers Trust for a fantastic venue.
